Spiral Wound Gasket – Details
Spiral Wound Gaskets are high-performance sealing solutions designed for demanding industrial applications, especially where high temperature, high pressure, and aggressive media are involved. They are widely used in flanged joints across oil & gas, petrochemical, power plants, refineries, chemical plants, and other heavy industries.
Construction:
Made of alternating metallic strips (like SS304 / SS316) and soft filler material (Graphite / PTFE).
The spiral winding is compressed inside a metallic outer ring and sometimes an inner ring to provide stability and centering in the flange.
Key Features:
Excellent sealing under high pressure and high temperature conditions.
Can handle thermal cycling and vibration without leakage.
Filler materials (graphite/PTFE) offer chemical resistance to corrosive media.
Outer and inner rings improve alignment, prevent over-compression, and protect the sealing edges.
Applications:
Heat exchangers
Boilers
Pressure vessels
Petrochemical & refinery piping
Flanged joints in steam, gas, and liquid lines
Advantages:
Reliable tight sealing across wide service conditions
Long service life with consistent performance
Suitable for ANSI / ASME / API flange standards
Spiral wound gaskets are the preferred choice for critical and high-duty flange sealing solutions.
