1. Description
MS Seamless Elbows are pipe fittings used to change the direction of piping systems, commonly at 90° or 45° angles. Being seamless, they are made from a single piece of steel without welding, offering higher strength and leak resistance compared to welded elbows.
2. Material
-
Mild Steel (MS)
-
Common grades: IS 1239, ASTM A234, ASTM A105
-
Properties: Good machinability, moderate tensile strength, corrosion-resistant when painted or coated.
3. Types
-
Elbow by Angle
-
90° Elbow
-
45° Elbow
-
180° Return Elbow
-
-
Elbow by End Type
-
Butt Weld End (BWE)
-
Socket Weld End (SWE)
-
4. Sizes
-
Outer diameter: Typically 15 mm to 600 mm (½” to 24”)
-
Wall thickness: According to standard schedule (SCH 10, 20, 40, 80)
-
Standard: ASME B16.9, IS 1239 Part 1 & 2
5. Pressure Rating
-
Depends on pipe schedule and diameter
-
Can withstand low to medium pressure applications (up to ~20 bar in typical MS grades)
6. Applications
-
Water supply and distribution
-
Steam and oil pipelines
-
HVAC systems
-
Industrial piping in refineries, plants, and manufacturing units
7. Features
-
Seamless construction: No weld seam, less chance of leak
-
Durable & Strong
-
Corrosion-resistant with painting or galvanizing
-
Easy installation in various piping layouts
